What Is a Food Desert?
Our Mission
Hunger and food insecurity affect millions globally. In North Carolina, 349 food deserts impact over 1.5 million residents. Limited nutrition access harms health and perpetuates inter-generational poverty. Without self-sustaining food production, communities remain reliant on unreliable aid. Bloom Up is dedicated to empowering people with food production skills is key to lasting change and food sovereignty. Our program and initiatives aims to increase knowledge on self-sustaining food production in the food desert community so that it can empower people to be nutrition-sufficient in 2021 and beyond?
